Evan & Michael’s Wedding at the Raddison Blu Hotel & St Peter’s Church, Cork

It’s been so long since I blogged but what a wedding to come back with. Having been so heavily involved in the campaign for a Yes! Vote in the same sex marriage referendum, it was great to be a part of Evan & Michael’s wedding day, when it finally came around. Full of fun, laughter, lots of colour and set right in the heart of Cork City at St. Peter’s Church, a wonderful alternative wedding venue in Cork, with photos in Fitzgerald’s Park, so long the epicentre of a vibrant LGBT culture in capital Cork.

I first met these two guys some two years ago and its been great to share in their journey, memories and to wish then many more for years to come. Thanks guys! D

Glanmire Church, Riverstown House, Clonakilty, Wedding Photography

Sharon & Ken’s engagement photography down at the Marina in Cork only a few days before the wedding was blessed with some amazing autumnal light and calm conditions so the omens were good for the big day and it didn’t disappoint. And while the sun made a few brief appearances on the day it certainly didn’t take from the magic of the occasion.

Glanmire church is certainly one of the more spacious and bright churches in Cork and it looked wonderful all decked out in white. We had been discussing locations for some photos in the lead up to the wedding and the location of Riverstown House came up. Having been there before, on the other side of the camera, I knew it was a stunning backdrop and was excited to finally make some pictures there myself and I love them. Then it was on to the ever popular Dunmore House Hotel in West Cork with a quick pit stop in Clonakilty at the Old Linen Hall for a few shots.

Now, I have to be honest and credit Sharon for coming up with the idea for this location, but as soon as I saw it I knew it would be great spot for a picture and indeed I made one of my favourite pictures of all time there. The red door and blue walls are lovely and colourful but I wanted to add a bit of movement to the shot and asked Sharon and Ken to run passed as if they were late for the reception. Now that got Ken moving all right and all credit again to Sharon for flashing that little bit of leg, just enough to make the picture magic!

Thanks again guys and look forward to seeing you again sometime.! ;-D

Louise & Denis – Blackrock Castle Wedding Cork

Louise & Denis tie the knot, literally, in a gorgeous, chic wedding ceremony at Blackrock Castle, Cork

My first wedding in Blackrock Castle Cork this year and boy did not disappoint. Louise & Denis from Cork tied the knot, literally, in a beautiful Humanist Wedding Ceremony under the tower of Cork’s historic and iconic harbour castle. I thought it would be cool and unusual to capture a few pictures downstairs in the ‘dungeon’ of the old castle (actually the old storage area for gunpowder and arms) while we were there. Afterwards it was down to the Marina walk for a gorgeous set of images with the VW bus (thanks Cormac). It was an amazing day with a great couple topped off with a delicious meal in the Kingsley Hotel, Cork.

I have to say the bride’s bouquet was the most amazing thing I have ever seen so kudos to you Denis on that one!

Spring Sunshine in Ballycotton

Wedding Photography Cork – Faranree Church, Ballycotton and Garryvoe Hotel by Darren Forde Wedding Photographer

Well here is a blog post I should have made well before now. Back in March… way back in March, I had the pleasure of shooting Donna & Peter’s Wedding in the glorious early Spring sunshine.

After posting some of these pictures to Facebook, I had a huge response and this is a more complete gallery of what was a glorious day. The ceremony was in Faranree Church right up at the top of Cork, a church I hadn’t been to before but, I have to say, is one of the most impressive in the county. The totally chilled out and frankly gorgeous Donna and no less handsome Peter & little Charlie are a beautiful family and I love the natural wedding photographs that come from that relaxed atmosphere.

Guys, thanks for letting me share in a great day.  😀

Videographer: The multi-talented Anthony Flemming
Make-up: The equally talented and far better looking Lola Desmond (?sorry Anthony)

Sorcha & Sean tie the knot at a beautiful ceremony in the charming Inish Beg Estate

Photography by Darren Forde, Wedding Photographer Cork

A stunning location to get married and on the finest day of the year so far, Sorcha and Sean got married in the idillic surroundings of Inish Beg Estate in Baltimore. A setting that perfectly complimented their humanist ceremony surrounded by forests, orchards and the sea. They asked me to be their wedding photographer at a fairly late stage in the planning and as I was lucky enough to enjoy this wedding as a guest also, so I got the best of both worlds, some beautiful pictures and a great day out. The next night wasn’t too bad either mind you!

Inish Beg Estate is a truly amazing setting for a wedding and a photographers dream. This was a day full of little charms and a surprise around every corner. With gorgeous light filtering through the forest canopy, the buzz of birds and nature ringing in our ears and friends and family gathered round. Thanks to Sorcha and Sean for a wonderful weekend and lots of love and best wishes for the future.
