Janet and Alan’s Engagement Photography—photographed by Darren Forde Wedding Photographers Cork

Where do you go on a wet and windy Sunday morning in Ballydehob, West Cork, when you need to shoot some engagement photography?

This is the question I faced when I met Janet and Alan for their Engagement shoot that day. To put thing in context, I had just shot two weddings on the trot and this was the only day we all had available so it was now or never. Read More

Wedding Photography from Macroom Church, Dunmore House Hotel and Red Strand, West Cork

Ok, its been way too long since my last blog post and I have tonnes of new work to post so lets get to it…

Kicking off, here is a wedding I have fond memories of from a while back. After Joanna & Aidan’s ceremony in Macroom we made for Dunmore House Hotel, just past Clonakilty in West Cork. The weather just about hung in there for us and we shot down to Red Strand for a few photos before heading back to the hotel. I just love that beach with it’s views across to Galley Head and sheltered dunes, it gives loads of options.

A big thanks to Joanna & Aiden for a great day.

Evan & Michael’s Wedding at the Raddison Blu Hotel & St Peter’s Church, Cork

It’s been so long since I blogged but what a wedding to come back with. Having been so heavily involved in the campaign for a Yes! Vote in the same sex marriage referendum, it was great to be a part of Evan & Michael’s wedding day, when it finally came around. Full of fun, laughter, lots of colour and set right in the heart of Cork City at St. Peter’s Church, a wonderful alternative wedding venue in Cork, with photos in Fitzgerald’s Park, so long the epicentre of a vibrant LGBT culture in capital Cork.

I first met these two guys some two years ago and its been great to share in their journey, memories and to wish then many more for years to come. Thanks guys! D

Dunmore House Hotel Wedding – Sharon & Ken

Glanmire Church, Riverstown House, Clonakilty, Wedding Photography

Sharon & Ken’s engagement photography down at the Marina in Cork only a few days before the wedding was blessed with some amazing autumnal light and calm conditions so the omens were good for the big day and it didn’t disappoint. And while the sun made a few brief appearances on the day it certainly didn’t take from the magic of the occasion.

Glanmire church is certainly one of the more spacious and bright churches in Cork and it looked wonderful all decked out in white. We had been discussing locations for some photos in the lead up to the wedding and the location of Riverstown House came up. Having been there before, on the other side of the camera, I knew it was a stunning backdrop and was excited to finally make some pictures there myself and I love them. Then it was on to the ever popular Dunmore House Hotel in West Cork with a quick pit stop in Clonakilty at the Old Linen Hall for a few shots.

Now, I have to be honest and credit Sharon for coming up with the idea for this location, but as soon as I saw it I knew it would be great spot for a picture and indeed I made one of my favourite pictures of all time there. The red door and blue walls are lovely and colourful but I wanted to add a bit of movement to the shot and asked Sharon and Ken to run passed as if they were late for the reception. Now that got Ken moving all right and all credit again to Sharon for flashing that little bit of leg, just enough to make the picture magic!

Thanks again guys and look forward to seeing you again sometime.! ;-D

Engagement Photo Shoot, Cork city, Ireland – Sharon & Ken

It’s been a while since I blogged any images so I’m really happy to be able to post some of the beautiful images from Sharon & Ken’s Engagement shoot which took place two days before the main event. Autumn light is magical but it was especially nice down by the Marina in Cork on this particular evening. Rich, golden hues filtered through the falling leaves allowing me to capture some of my favourite images from last year. Of course it helps to have such a wonderful happy couple.

Engagement shoots are a great way to get to know what to expect from your wedding photographer on the day itself. You will feel much more comfortable working with the photographer on your wedding day itself and you get some beautiful images to decorate your home and compliment your wedding photos. If you would like to know more or to check the availability of your date slip a few details in to the form after the pictures and I will get right back to you.

The stylish Inish Beg Wedding of Stephanie & Colin

by Darren Forde Wedding Photographers Cork

Stephanie & Colin, from the good old U.S. of A, met while studying in UCC in Cork some years ago. So when it came to their wedding, they absolutely had to come back to Ireland and decided upon a gorgeous and elegant Inish Beg wedding. They wanted to return to the place where it all began and they wanted to do it in style and the Inish Beg Island Estate with its miles of woodland paths, beautiful walled garden and secluded location provided the perfect wedding retreat. And so it was, with friends and family, and one excited photographer we all arrived in glorious West Cork on a sunny day in September.

Now if you asked me, it was a beautiful warm day (for September… in Ireland) but somehow I think that sentiment was lost on the American mid-westerners who were used to a slightly more balmy type of summer. That didn’t dampen the celebrations though and after a wonderful ceremony in Skibbereen and a quick walk through the town it was down to the stunning Inish Beg Gardens and the capable hands of Sandra Looney of To Have and to Hold Wedding Planners, where the party began.

And what a great night it was! Guys, thank you for letting me share in your fantastic wedding and especially for that big fat cigar at the end of the night. And I’m still very fond of my Starbucks mug too Steph ?? 😀

Castlemartyr Resort Wedding Photography | Ann-Marie & Jordan

After a sunny but chilly engagement shoot in March, Ann-Marie and Jordan’s wedding finally came around in the Summer sunshine at Glounthane Church and the wonderful Castlemartyr Resort. And while Coco the dog didn’t quite make the guest list for the wedding there must have been something in the air that day to make everyone so relaxed. From the morning shots with the guys to the fab wedding car, it was a day to remember. A beautifully dramatic sunset in the evening kicked off a great night of celebrations that went on well into the morning air. Thank you guys for letting me share in your happy year! ?

Wedding Photography Cork at Blackrock Castle, Kingsley Hotel and Marina Cork by Darren Forde Wedding Photographer

Louise & Denis – Blackrock Castle Wedding Cork

By | Real Weddings | No Comments

Louise & Denis tie the knot, literally, in a gorgeous, chic wedding ceremony at Blackrock Castle, Cork

My first wedding in Blackrock Castle Cork this year and boy did not disappoint. Louise & Denis from Cork tied the knot, literally, in a beautiful Humanist Wedding Ceremony under the tower of Cork’s historic and iconic harbour castle. I thought it would be cool and unusual to capture a few pictures downstairs in the ‘dungeon’ of the old castle (actually the old storage area for gunpowder and arms) while we were there. Afterwards it was down to the Marina walk for a gorgeous set of images with the VW bus (thanks Cormac). It was an amazing day with a great couple topped off with a delicious meal in the Kingsley Hotel, Cork.

I have to say the bride’s bouquet was the most amazing thing I have ever seen so kudos to you Denis on that one!
